There are many different elections opened to the people resident in Ireland.

Irish Citizens, both Republic of Ireland Nationals & those who have changed Citizenship, can vote in Local, National & European Elections. Also any changes to the Constitution  of the Republic of Ireland, which in most European countries can be done at Parliamentary level, requires to voice of the people in passing a Referendum.

Citizens of the Free Movement Zone between Republic of Ireland & the United Kingdom of Britain & Northern Ireland, who are resident in the Republic of Ireland, can vote in Local, National & EU Elections.

EU Citizens, who are resident in the Republic of Ireland, can vote in both Local & EU Elections.

Non-EU Citizens, who are resident in the Republic of Ireland, can vote in Local Elections.
